1948 Rose Bowl, This Is Where We Came In, Making their first Rose Bowl (or any Bowl) appearance in 46 years, the Wolverines picked up right where they left off, stomping the previously once-beaten Trojans of Southern California by the same 49-0 score that they'd beaten Stanford by, way back in 1902. This impressed the AP pollsters so much that in an unprecedented move they took a special post-game vote and vaulted Michigan over Notre Dame into the # 1 spot in the rankings. This was never to happen again until nearly 20 years later, when the post-New Year's poll became an annual tradition.

1969 Rose Bowl, Woody Wins Third National Title, This Pasadena showdown featuring two unbeaten powerhouses has to be ranked among the finest moments in Buckeye gridiron history, right up there with the 1954 national championship and that 2003 Fiesta Bowl stunner against Miami. Taking on the Southern Cal Trojans in O.J. Simpson's last game, Woody's men avenged a series of recent Big Ten Rose Bowl setbacks by spotting them the first 10 points, and then answering with three touchdowns and a pair of field goals. A meaningless USC touchdown during garbage time changed only the point spread, in what was certainly one of Woody Hayes's most satisfying games.

1946 Rose Bowl, Tide Bids Pasadena Farewell With Rout Of Trojans, This was the final Rose Bowl to be played before it became an annual Big Ten vs. PCC contest, and Frank Thomas's boys capped another perfect year with a modest annihilation of Southern Cal.
